PRAISE: A CALL FOR EVERY BELIEVER

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heaven!”
Psalm 150:1 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
David, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, closes the entire book of Psalms with a powerful command: “Praise the Lord!” It’s not a suggestion — it’s a call for every believer.
Where do we praise God?
Corporately: In His Sanctuary
There should be regular times when we gather with other believers to praise God together. When we do, our focus shifts away from our daily struggles and back to the One who created us, loves us, and is at work in our lives.
Corporate praise is contagious. When people around us begin to worship, it stirs our own hearts. Even if we don’t feel like praising, we often find ourselves joining in as we see and hear the faith of others.
Privately: In His Mighty Heaven
Gathering with others is powerful, but there is something deeply personal about praising God alone. Some of our most intimate moments with God happen when we lift our voices in private praise — singing, praying, or simply thanking Him from our hearts.
In these moments, our attitude shifts. Worry gives way to peace. Weariness is replaced with strength.
What are the benefits of praising God?
(Here are the first three — let them encourage you today.)
1. Praise draws us closer to God
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8
When we focus on who God is and what He has done, we sense His presence in a fresh way.
2. Praise invites God’s presence and power
“God inhabits the praises of His people.” — Psalm 22:3
There is a special, tangible presence of God that rests on our genuine praise.
3. Praise shifts our perspective
When Paul and Silas were chained in prison, they chose to praise God (Acts 16:25–26). Despite their pain, they worshiped — and God set them free! Praise can bring freedom to our hearts and minds too.
Reflection
• Do you need to feel closer to God? — Start praising Him.
• Do you need God’s presence and power? — Start praising Him.
• Do you need a fresh perspective? — Start praising Him.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me to shift my perspective and draw closer to You through praise. Teach me to daily live as a person of praise. Amen.
