COME AND ENJOY THE PRESENCE OF JESUS
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
One of the great freedoms that we have when we become followers of Christ is the freedom from being weary because of carrying heavy burdens. Jesus invites us to cast our cares on Him. He invites us to yoke ourselves with Him and let Him teach us how to walk through the ups and downs of life.
Life is going to have problems. Jesus promised problems in this world for His followers (John 16:30). I used to think that all problems are caused by sin in my life and if I could ever get all the sin out, I wouldn’t have any more problems. I have discovered many problems come because I am living in a fallen world with fallen people.
But Jesus came to earth to give us freedom even in our times of difficulty. Jesus’ plan is that instead of trying to fight our battles alone we should come to Him. We should connect with Him. We should cast our cares on Him. We should let Him teach us how to be at peace in the middle of our pain.
Instead of trying to figure everything out on our own we need to learn to kneel at the cross of Jesus and ask the Holy Spirit to cleanse our minds and hearts of anything that is distracting us from His presence. In the presence of Jesus there is perfect peace. That doesn’t mean there won’t be problems or pain. But as followers of Christ, we can be at peace in the pain.
Today I speak peace and freedom over every pain in your life. I invite you to come to Jesus and enjoy His presence. Don’t try to fight your battles alone. Let Jesus be your partner.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit help me to cast my cares on You. Help me to break off any yoke in my life that is not from You. Help me to live in freedom by being connected to Jesus.
