GOD HAS ALL KNOWLEDGE

ree

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Then he said, “I am here to tell you what will happen later in the time of wrath. What you have seen pertains to the very end of time. The two-horned ram represents the kings of Media and Persia. The shaggy male goat represents the king of Greece, and the large horn between his eyes represents the first king of the Greek Empire. The four prominent horns that replaced the one large horn show that the Greek Empire will break into four kingdoms, but none as great as the first.

“At the end of their rule, when their sin is at its height, a fierce king, a master of intrigue, will rise to power. He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will cause a shocking amount of destruction and succeed in everything he does. He will destroy powerful leaders and devastate the holy people. He will be a master of deception and will become arrogant; he will destroy many without warning. He will even take on the Prince of princes in battle, but he will be broken, though not by human power.

“This vision about the 2,300 evenings and mornings is true. But none of these things will happen for a long time, so keep this vision a secret.”

Daniel 8:19-26 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

Daniel receives a powerful vision involving a ram and a goat—symbols of future empires. The angel Gabriel is sent by God to explain the vision. The ram represents the kings of Media and Persia, and the goat represents the kingdom of Greece. The prominent horn on the goat symbolizes Alexander the Great, and the four horns that rise after his death represent the four generals who divide his empire.

Later, a fierce and deceptive king arises—Antiochus IV Epiphanes. He brings devastation, persecutes the Jews, and desecrates the temple by offering pagan sacrifices. The vision includes a prophetic time span: 2,300 evenings and mornings—likely referring to the period during which the temple would be defiled.

So, what does this ancient prophecy mean for us today?

1. God Knows the Future—Perfectly

The historical accuracy of Daniel’s vision is so precise that some skeptics argue it must have been written after the fact. But we know the truth: God sees the end from the beginning.

He knew about Alexander the Great and Antiochus IV centuries before they lived. That same God sees your future, too. He is not surprised by anything. You can trust Him with your unknowns.

“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book…” (Psalm 139:16)

2. God Is Sovereign Over All Kings and Kingdoms

No ruler, no empire, no world event is outside of God’s control. Though Alexander the Great conquered swiftly and Antiochus ruled with cruelty, they were ultimately pieces in a much greater divine puzzle.

God is always working out His redemptive plan. History doesn’t unfold at random—it unfolds according to His will.

“The Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes…” (Daniel 4:17)

3. God Will Triumph in the End

Antiochus thought he could defeat the “Prince of princes,” but he was broken—not by human hands, but by divine judgment. Evil never wins in the end. God always has the final word.

Even when the world feels dark, God’s kingdom is advancing. We can find peace in that truth. No chaos, ruler, or spiritual opposition can stop the plan of God.

What This Means for You

You are living in a world that often feels unpredictable—but you serve a God who is completely in control.

He knows what’s coming, and He’s already made provision for you.

So lean into Him. Stay grounded in His Word. And ask the Holy Spirit to guide you every day.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit, guide me today. Teach me what I need to know so I can play my part in Your plan. Help me to trust that You know the future, that You are in control, and that You will always prevail. Amen.
