WHO OR WHAT DO YOU SERVE?
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Everybody serves someone or something. We all have a choice to make as to what or who we will serve.
Instead of surrendering to God some people will surrender to popular opinion, to money, to resentment or fear, or to their own pride, lust, and ego. Everyone has their own choice to make as to what they surrender to.
While we have the right to make our choice, we must recognize that each choice comes with consequences. E. Stanley Jones said, “If you don’t surrender to Christ, you surrender to chaos.”
We are free to make our choice as to who or what we will surrender. But we are not free from the consequences of that choice. Every choice has consequences.
Surrendering to Christ is not the best way to live, it is the only way to live. Any other choice leads to frustration, disappointment, and self-destruction.
I have worked with people long enough to see the consequences of bad choices. The grace of God can forgive our bad choices but that does not always remove the consequences of those choices. We still must pay the price for those choices.
