THIS IS ONLY TEMPORARY

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. For we live by believing and not by seeing. Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:6-8 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

As followers of Christ, we should be the most confident people on earth. Regardless of what we face in this life—sickness, financial reversal, broken relationships, personal failure, lies by others, natural disasters, war, etc.—we know the end of the story. Because we are followers of Christ, we have an assurance that we will spend eternity in heaven with Almighty God.

For years I have often repeated the phrase, “You can live through hell if you know it is only temporary!”

Everything we are going through on this side of eternity is temporary. Often, we face things that surprise us, confuse us, and disappoint us. But God is never surprised or confused. He is in control of everything.

We must choose to “live by believing and not by seeing.” Just because I can’t see the answer and I can’t see how God is working I believe that God is working and there is an answer. God is bigger than whatever I am facing.

I believe the best witness we can have as followers of Christ is to be confident in the middle of our storms. To stay confident that God is working. To remind ourselves that heaven is real, and I am going to spend eternity in heaven.

There is no place on this earth to compare with heaven. I have had the privilege to visit some pretty amazing places. But none of them can compare with what my Heavenly Father has in store for me in heaven.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit help me to focus on You and Your work in my present life and in my eternity. Forgive me for allowing fear, worry, and anxiety to crowd out my confidence.

“Scroll down to share what you feel God is saying based on today’s reading.”
