THE PROMISE OF DELIVERANCE

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.”
Psalms 91:14 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Let’s focus on the first of seven promises God makes for those who choose to abide in the shelter of the Almighty, love Him, and trust Him.
David says God will “rescue those who love” God. This is a promise of deliverance.
I remember times in my life when I needed deliverance. Most recently I battled with bitterness and anger over the actions of others. It took daily prayer and releasing that situation over to the Lord until I finally found my deliverance. I wish it had been a simple prayer. I would have loved to have someone anoint me with oil and all my bad emotions fly away, but that didn’t happen. I had to confess my bitterness and anger to the Lord daily and ask Him to deliver me.
There were other times in my life when I struggled with guilt and shame. I knew according to scripture I was forgiven by God, but it took time to receive the ability to forgive myself. But God kept reminding me of His grace and mercy. He delivered me from shame and guilt.
The Word of God declares, “All who call on the Name of the Lord shall be delivered” (Joel 2:32).
Many people struggle with fear, worry, anxiety and panic attacks. God wants to deliver us from those negative emotions that will sabotage His work in and through our lives. We must apply the power of His Word.
One of my favorite scriptures is, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
I have had friends who struggled with alcohol and drug addictions that found their deliverance through the grace and mercy of God. I believe God’s grace and mercy not only forgives us, but also frees us.
God’s grace empowers us to be forgiven from the consequences of sin and also freed from the control of sin. We need both. We need a God Who rescues us from the traps of sin, struggles of wrong emotions, and mental anxiety of life.
Today we can declare together, “Because I choose to live in the shelter of the Most High and make Him my refuge, My God will deliver and rescue me. I will live in freedom. I have the favor of God in my life.”
TODAY’S PRAYER
Prayer: Holy Spirit thank You for rescuing me. Thank You for empowering me to live in freedom. I declare I am free today to live in the favor of God.
