IT’S A PERFECT DAY TO GIVE THANKS

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“The Lord says, “Don’t harden your hearts as Israel did at Meribah, as they did at Massah in the wilderness. For there your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw everything I did. For forty years I was angry with them, and I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’ So in my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.’”
Psalms 95:8-11 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
The journey of Israel from slavery to the Promised Land is full of astonishing moments. God parted the Red Sea, defeated Pharaoh’s army, brought water from a rock, and sent manna from heaven each day. His care and power were on display continually.
Yet the people quickly forgot what they had seen. In Numbers 11:1 they complained about their “hardships.” They longed for the food they had in Egypt, ignoring the fact that it came with chains. And they grew tired of manna, overlooking the wonder of God providing their daily bread—something they didn’t earn or work for.
David uses this memory as a warning: don’t fall into the same pattern. Israel complained even while living in the middle of God’s miracles. Their hearts drifted, and they missed the rest God wanted to give them.
We often do the same.
How often do we fixate on what we lack instead of what God has already given?
How often do we grumble because He isn’t meeting our preferences?
Today is a perfect moment to pause, remember, and give thanks. God’s blessings are already surrounding us.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, make me a person who gives thanks. Forgive me for the times I’ve complained or forgotten Your goodness. Help me to keep my eyes on the blessings You’ve placed in my life. Amen.
