WALK IN THE WISDOM OF THE LORD

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Those who trust their own insight are foolish, but anyone who walks in wisdom is safe.”
Proverbs 28:26 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever been completely confident you knew where you were going—only to find out you were headed in the wrong direction?
I’ll admit, I have a terrible sense of direction when it comes to driving. My wife, Cindy, can visit a place once—twenty years ago—and somehow remember exactly how to get back there. Me? I can go somewhere yesterday and still need directions today!
That’s why I’ve learned not to rely on what I think I know. I depend on my Waze app to guide me wherever I go. And living in Texas, that’s especially important—because there’s always some kind of road construction! The best route yesterday can easily become a parking lot today.
In many ways, that’s exactly what Solomon is teaching us in this verse. It’s foolish to rely only on our own understanding. Life’s “roads” are constantly changing. What worked yesterday might not work today. We need a wiser, more reliable source for direction.
True wisdom doesn’t come from our own insight—it comes from the Word of God, the Spirit of God, and the Family of God.
• The Word of God is our map. It gives us truth and helps our thinking stay aligned with God’s way.
• The Spirit of God is our guide. He helps us apply what we read and teaches us how to walk it out daily.
• The Family of God is our community. God uses other believers who love Him and love us to confirm direction, give correction, and encourage us along the way.
We can’t walk in wisdom alone. We simply aren’t that smart. But when we lean on God’s Word, listen to His Spirit, and live connected to His people, we will walk in wisdom—and we will walk in safety.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me to read and apply Your Word every day. Teach me to listen for Your voice and to follow Your direction. Surround me with wise believers who can help me discern Your will for my life. I don’t want to trust in my own understanding—help me to walk in Your wisdom. Amen.
