THE TRUE FATHER’S LOVE

ree

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us.

The government will rest on his shoulders.

And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isaiah 9:6 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

Today we come to the fourth title Isaiah gives to Jesus: Everlasting Father.

This title speaks deeply to a universal need. Every human heart long for the security, stability, and affection of a father. The health of any society begins in the home, and history shows that the presence of a strong, loving father is vital.

Yet many today carry wounds tied to that very word. With broken families and absent fathers so common, Father’s Day—once widely celebrated—can be painful for many. Those who study the human mind and heart tell us that people often shape their view of God through their experience with their earthly father. If a father was harsh, distant, or missing, it can be difficult to imagine a God who loves faithfully.

Perhaps that’s part of why the Father sent His Son into the world—to give us a clearer picture of what a true father looks like. In calling Jesus our Everlasting Father, Scripture shows us how He reveals the Father’s heart.

Jesus welcomed children when others saw them as interruptions. He insisted they be brought to Him, showing that they were not a nuisance but a priority.

He confronted anything that stood between God’s children and their Father. When people were blocking the way to the Temple, Jesus took decisive action so worshippers could once again approach God freely.

He consistently cared for the rejected, the forgotten, and the needy demonstrating a father’s love in every encounter. Finally, He gave His life for others. That’s what fathers do: they sacrifice themselves for the good of their families. Jesus saw His death as an investment in the salvation of the world. In the same way, our sacrifices for those we love are investments in their future.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Lord Jesus, thank You for revealing the true heart of a Father. Teach us to rest in Your unfailing love and to reflect that love to our families and to the world.
