LIVE IN VICTORY AND PEACE

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

Colossians 1:18-20 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

As followers of Christ, we are the Church. As the Church we are the body of Christ. That is a crucial thought—we are the body of Christ. That means we are uniquely connected to each other. The picture we get from scripture is that Jesus is the life that flows through the body. When we are connected to the body, we have the life of Jesus flowing through us.

If we disconnect from the body, we are the part that suffers. We may feel like we are the little finger on the left hand, but the only way for us to have life is to stay connected to the body. God designed us to be connected to a local Church so that His life can flow through us and renew us.

I love Paul’s statement in verse 20, “He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.” We should remember the horrible, bloody act of crucifixion was the means God chose to restore peace in heaven and on earth.

Adam and Eve rebelled against God in the Garden and broke the peace between God and man. But God promised a Redeemer would come who would conquer Satan and restore the peace. When we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus, we are remembering that His death and resurrection has purchased peace for us.

We do not have to live as victims of fear, anxiety, worry, or depression. We can live in victory and in peace. We have been given peace with God which means we can have peace with ourselves and with others. When we fully discover the peace we have with God, it releases into every other area of our life.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit help me today to receive the peace of God that Jesus purchased for me on the cross. Help to live today in peace.
