WE LIVE TODAY FOR ETERNITY
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:57 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Today we pause to say thanks for the victory Jesus has won for us over sin and death. Death holds a great fear over those who are in bondage to sin. Jesus died on the cross to free us from the control and consequences of sin. We are forgiven and free from sin. This freedom allows us to live without the fear of death. Death for the follower of Christ is only a transition from one level of living to a higher level of living. While we may be separated from our physical body at death, we enter a greater connection with our Heavenly Father. God has freed us from the fear of death and control of sin. Therefore, we can live in freedom and thanksgiving for God’s work in our lives. We should remind ourselves regularly that we are eternal beings living in a temporal world. Every hurt, injustice, disappointment, frustration, and sickness will only be temporary. We are eternal. We will live forever in the presence of our Heavenly Father. We should daily remind ourselves we are living for something greater than earthly pleasure, popularity, or prizes. We are living for eternity.
