RUN TO GOD, NOT FROM HIM

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.”
Psalm 9:9–10 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
These are powerful words: “You, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for You.”
They were written by David—the same man who also cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Psalm 22:1, quoted by Jesus on the cross in Matthew 27:46). David knew what it felt like to wrestle with both faith and fear, trust and despair.
Through battles, failures, shame, triumphs, and heartbreak, David discovered one constant truth: God was his shelter, his refuge, and the One he could always trust. Even when life didn’t make sense, David learned to run to God, not from Him.
Sometimes, the hardest seasons are the ones where our trust in God is strengthened the most. When everything else seems uncertain, we discover that His presence is our safest place.
Picture a strong fortress high on a hill—its walls thick and unshakable. That’s what God’s presence is like. When we feel attacked or overwhelmed, we can run into His presence and find a calm and peace that truly passes all understanding.
The tragedy is that too often, we run away from God instead of toward Him. But even in our moments of weakness or failure, His love remains steadfast. He doesn’t turn away. He never abandons those who seek Him.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, teach me to daily run into Your shelter. Help me to turn to You first—for help, strength, and safety. Grow my trust in You in every part of my life. Amen.
