A WISE PERSON. . .

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Though good advice lies deep within the heart, a person with understanding will draw it out. Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable? The godly walk with integrity; blessed are their children who follow them.”
Proverbs 20:5–7 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Solomon gathered timeless bits of wisdom to guide us in life. In this passage, we discover three powerful truths that still speak to us today:
1. A Wise Person Listens
Wisdom often lies hidden in the heart, waiting to be drawn out. A person with understanding takes time to listen to others. Everyone has value, and every person’s story carries unique experiences we can learn from. If we slow down and truly listen, we can discover treasures of wisdom that might otherwise remain hidden.
2. A Wise Person Is Faithful
Many people claim loyalty, but true faithfulness is rare. When friendship requires sacrifice, some walk away. Faithfulness means staying when it’s hard, showing up when it costs us something, and putting the needs of others above our own selfish desires. A wise person is not just a fair-weather friend, but one who proves reliable in all seasons.
3. A Wise Person Walks with Integrity
Integrity means being the same in private as you are in public. It’s living with consistency, even when no one is watching. A person of integrity leaves behind a legacy. The greatest gift my father gave me was a name that carried the weight of honesty and faithfulness. I count it an honor when someone tells me I remind them of him.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me to be a person who listens with understanding, who is faithful in relationships, and who lives with integrity each day. Reveal the areas where I need to grow and give me strength to walk in wisdom that blesses not only me but also those who come after me. Amen.
