PRAYER IS A DAILY LIFELINE

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.””
Psalms 91:9-16 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Psalm 91 is one of the most comforting promises in Scripture. It assures us of God’s protection, presence, and power when we put our trust in Him.
During World War II, Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, America’s most decorated fighter pilot, leaned on this psalm as a lifeline. In 1942, after his plane went down in the Pacific, he and his crew were stranded on rafts for 24 days. Facing sharks, starvation, and the scorching sun, Rickenbacker clung to the promises of Psalm 91. He later testified that God’s Word gave him strength and courage during near-death circumstances.
David’s words give us that same hope today. Let’s look at three truths from this psalm:
1. We must make the Lord our refuge.
Everyone takes shelter in something—money, influence, family, or even personal ability. But true safety is only found in God. When we place our trust in Him, He becomes our covering and our place of security.
2. We can expect angelic help.
God has promised that His angels are on assignment to protect His people: “He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go.” (v. 11). You are never alone. Heaven itself backs you up.
3. We must call on God daily.
God says, “When they call on me, I will answer” (v. 15). Prayer isn’t just for emergencies—it’s a daily lifeline. Talking to God each day keeps our hearts aligned with His will and opens the door for His guidance, protection, and peace.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me place my full trust in You. Give me faith to expect Your protection and the ministry of Your angels. Teach me to walk in daily conversation with You so that I may always rest under Your shelter. Amen.
