WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER

ree

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“A house is built by wisdom and becomes strong through good sense. Through knowledge its rooms are filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables. The wise are mightier than the strong, and those with knowledge grow stronger and stronger. So don’t go to war without wise guidance; victory depends on having many advisers.”

Proverbs 24:3–6 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

A very successful businessman once told a class of graduates: “You will always be able to make more money with your brain than with your body.”

His point was simple: knowledge and wisdom are greater assets than strength alone. While we often admire athletes and think of sports as a glamorous career, the truth is only about 0.02% of Americans earn their living as professional athletes—roughly 1 in 10,000 people.

Others make a living through hard manual labor. I know this firsthand because, as a teenager and young adult, that’s how I worked. It taught me discipline and a good work ethic, but it wasn’t the pathway to financial strength.

Proverbs remind us that wisdom, understanding, and good sense are the foundation of a strong life. Wisdom recognizes its own limits. A wise person doesn’t assume they have all the answers but seeks counsel and listens to others.

When I look back on the best decisions I’ve made in life, very few came from me alone. Most started with a simple idea, but when I shared it with others, their perspective sharpened it, improved it, and often made it far better than I could have imagined on my own.

That’s why having people in your life who share your faith and values is so important. Their counsel can be a treasure of wisdom and a safeguard against mistakes. Victory in life—whether in business, relationships, or spiritual growth—often depends on the input of wise, godly advisers.

We really are better together.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit, help me recognize and value the people You place in my life to guide me with wisdom. Give me a heart that is eager to learn and grow through reading, listening, and meditating on Your Word. Teach me to listen well—to the counsel of others and most of all to Your voice. Amen.
