WHEN WE CULTIVATE PRAISE

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.”
Psalm 100:1–5 NLT
TODAY’S THOUGHT
This psalm gives us a beautiful framework for living a life of praise. Let’s break it down:
1. Praise Should Be Passionate
David begins with: “Shout with joy… come before Him, singing with joy.”
Praise is not meant to be dry, mechanical, or emotionless. It’s an overflow of the heart. Too often, we think worship must be quiet and somber—but Psalm 100 calls us to lift our voices, celebrate, and express joy in the presence of our God. True reverence is not lifeless—it’s full of heartfelt passion.
2. The Doorway to God’s Presence is Praise and Thanksgiving
Praise focuses on who God is: our Creator, Savior, Provider, Healer, Deliverer, and Prince of Peace.
Thanksgiving focuses on what God has done: forgiving our sins, saving our souls, and meeting our needs in countless ways.
If we only think about what we need or don’t have, we miss the power of remembering what God has already done. Praise and thanksgiving shift our perspective, build our faith, and open our hearts to a deeper experience of God’s presence.
3. God’s Love Never Fails
David closes by reminding us: “The Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and His faithfulness continues to each generation.”
When we cultivate praise, we become more aware of God’s steady love at work in us and around us. This awareness gives us strength for today and confidence for tomorrow. Praise anchors us in His goodness and reminds us that His love and faithfulness will never run dry.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Holy Spirit, help me to become a person of praise. Teach me to enter God’s presence with thanksgiving in my heart and praise on my lips. Remind me daily of His love, and let that love strengthen me to walk with courage and joy. Amen.
