PRAISE GOD IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE

ree

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise him with the lyre and harp! Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord! Praise the Lord!”

Psalms 150:3-6 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT

In this final part of Psalm 150, David gives us a beautiful, all-inclusive call to praise the Lord. He doesn’t limit it to one style or one place — he invites everyone and everything that has breath to praise the Lord in every possible way!

We can praise God with instruments.

David lists the ram’s horn, lyre, harp, tambourine, strings, flutes, and cymbals — both softly played and loudly clashing. He reminds us that any instrument can become an instrument of praise when it’s used to glorify God. I remember when people would debate whether drums belonged in church. But how could you argue when Scripture literally says to praise Him with “loud clanging cymbals”? God welcomes our joyful noise — no instrument is off-limits if it lifts Him up.

We can praise Him with dance.

David says, “Praise Him with tambourine and dancing!” Dance is a natural overflow of joy and freedom in God’s presence. At our family services, I love watching the children during worship — they can’t help but dance and twirl for the Lord. It reminds me that praise should be uninhibited!

Years ago, as a youth pastor, I watched my students at a concert jump and dance at the front. I stood in the back and joked with another youth pastor that maybe we were just too old. He said, “I’m not sure if it’s age or pride.” That hit me deeply. I had to ask myself: Am I holding back my praise because I care too much about what people think? Since then, I’ve chosen to worship with freedom — even if it means dancing before the Lord.

We can praise Him with our singing.

I’m thankful David didn’t say, “Sing praises only if you have a good voice!” The Bible says, “Make a joyful noise to the Lord.” Some of us may not be on the worship team — and that’s probably a good thing! — but that should never stop us from lifting our voices. God delights in the praise that comes from a sincere heart.

Let’s be people who live a lifestyle of praise — with our instruments, our voices, our dancing, our very breath! May nothing hold us back from giving Him the glory He deserves.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Holy Spirit, help me to be a person of praise. Forgive me for the times I’ve let fear or pride silence my worship. Teach me to praise you freely — with my voice, my dance, my instruments, and my whole life. Amen.
